Phillip Island was shaping up to be an absolute belter of a round.

Jorge Martín and Marc Márquez were going toe to toe for the Sprint win and the MotoGP World Championship lead, swapping places at the front. Then, on lap eight, Jorge lost the front at Turn 8 and went tumbling through the gravel. Márquez took the win and moved into the title lead.

It was a big one. Jorge was declared unfit for Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix, and further scans confirmed a non-displaced fracture of the radius near his right wrist. Aprilia said he would receive treatment over the following days.

Sunday had one more twist in store. Poor visibility meant the medical helicopter couldn’t operate, so the Grand Prix was cancelled. For Jorge, that meant no further points lost while he was unable to race. He leaves Australia 10 points behind Márquez, with the championship fight heading to Sepang.

Next stop: Malaysia?

Tough as nails, Jorge is already in Kuala Lumpur and working towards a return at the Malaysian Grand Prix. First comes a medical assessment at the circuit on Thursday. He’ll need clearance to ride in Friday’s first practice, and another check may follow before he can continue the weekend.

Moments like this show just how tough motorcycle racers are at the very top of the sport. The speed, the risks, the determination to get back out there: every rider on that grid is a legend in our eyes.

Anyone who watched those opening laps knows the Martínator isn’t short on fight. As proud sponsors, we’re right behind him.
