Stage 9: Formula Approval and Production Sign-Off
Stage 9 is where the formulation gets locked down. Not because it works once, but because it performs to our standards across each stage of the development process.
At this point, the challenge shifts. It’s no longer just about performance in development; it’s about ensuring the performance levels we’ve achieved are reproduced exactly at scale.
The formulation must behave consistently in production, maintaining stability, quality and performance levels across every batch, so it delivers the same result every time it reaches a rider.
Stage 10: Launch
This is the moment everything builds towards.
Dark Energy moves from development into the hands of riders around the world.
By the time it reaches launch, it’s been tested across lab conditions, contaminated systems, real-world riding, elite-level racing, and independently tested, with performance markers aligned across multiple methods, environments and disciplines.
Through our global distribution network, that performance is delivered at scale, giving riders around the globe the opportunity to experience and enjoy the drivetrain performance and riding pleasure we set out to give them.
What Comes Next
From the outset, the goal was clear: to develop a lubricant that could deliver efficiency, durability and low wear, without compromise. This challenge shaped every stage of development - but the process doesn’t stop at launch.
Testing continues far beyond release, with ongoing lab analysis and real-world riding helping us build an ever-growing bank of performance data behind Dark Energy. Every data point feeds back into our understanding, allowing us to refine, evolve and push performance even further.
Feedback from riders, teams and real-world use continues to inform future development, feeding directly into the next cycle of product innovation.
