Muc-Off Wheel Cleaner is made for motorcycle wheels. Its formula clings to the surface and turns purple as it reacts with embedded iron particles and grime, so you can see it working.
How to use Muc-Off Wheel Cleaner
- Test the surface. Apply the cleaner to a small, inconspicuous area to check compatibility. Avoid chrome-look plastic, carbon fibre and non-factory finishes.
- Position the wheels. Keep them out of direct sunlight and ensure the surface is cool.
- Pre-rinse. Remove loose dirt and grime from the wheels with water.
- Apply the cleaner. Spray generously onto wheel surfaces and brake areas, keeping the wheels out of direct sunlight.
- Watch the colour change. The cleaner turns purple as it reacts with contaminants. Leave it for 2–3 minutes, but do not allow it to dry out.
- Agitate and rinse. If needed, use a Muc-Off soft brush, microfibre mitt or scrubber glove. Rinse thoroughly with a pressure washer, ensuring all Wheel Cleaner is removed.
- Repeat if needed. For very dirty wheels, repeat the steps above.
- Protect. For best results, follow with Muc-Off Ceramic Protection for easier wheel cleaning and care.
What does the purple colour mean?
The colour change shows Muc-Off Wheel Cleaner reacting with contaminants on the wheel, including embedded iron particles. It makes the cleaning process visible, but the cleaner should still be rinsed off after its 2–3 minute dwell time and must not be allowed to dry.
